Mix of the Week 59 : Todd Terry

Few even begin to come close to this week's Mix Of The Week winner. He has been part of the creative backbone of house music from Day 1 and is without a doubt integral to its DNA. His global DJ schedule has never been so busy with a whopping 80 International gigs per year and a high profile Ibiza residency. Add that to his global Inhouse Radio show and numerous productions and it's a miracle that this legend found time in his schedule to talk to us. Our latest Mix Of The Week - 59 in the series - comes from none other than [drum roll....] Todd Terry...

Todd, it's a milestone for us to have you grace our front page. Many thanks for the dj mix. Everyone knows you are pretty much one of the busiest / in-demand DJ’s on the planet. Please tell us what 2018 has in store for you. Any special gigs you are looking forward to any remixes or productions we should look out for? I have new singles, remixes and collaborations coming out all the time. Some on my InHouse Records and Freeze Records, sometimes on other labels. I still do a bunch of remixes for the major labels every year. I produce a monthly show called InHouse Radio that's syndicated on 70+ stations in over 50 countries. Then it's all about touring, I average about 80 dates a year along with my Friday night summer residency in Ibiza. TODD TERRY 2018 TOUR You pretty much crafted the sound of today as we know it but please tell us who inspired you musically all those years ago. What influence really rubbed off on you to shape those early and highly innovative productions. The big three influences for me are Quincy Jones, James Brown and Arthur Baker. You add in the sampling side I picked up from Hip Hop and that's my sound. What does Todd Terry do to unwind during such a hectic global DJ schedule? I go home and drive my cars, I have a collections of older Ford Mustangs form the late 1960s and early 1970s We’re receiving some hilarious stories from our Mix Of The Week winners about what they have seen from behind the booth. Please tell us one of the funniest things you have seen from behind the decks. People come up to me and ask what record I just played right after dropping "Something Going On", I just laugh every time. I guess those are my new fans. 3 records that you can’t live without.
